What's New on BigStash: A Big Spring Update
The last few weeks have been huge. We turned BigStash from a beautiful private vault into a full end-to-end home for your valuables — from the moment you photograph an item to the day a verified buyer pays for it, picks the carrier, and tracks the package to their door.
Here is everything that landed in the last month, grouped by what it means for you.
A real marketplace, with very low seller fees
You can now sell anything in your collection directly on BigStash. Choose Buy Now, accept Offers, or run a timed Auction. Payouts go straight to your bank through Stripe, and our seller fees are intentionally among the lowest in the category. No more shipping pieces off to a consignment shop and waiting for a check.
- Buy Now, Offers, or Auctions — pick the format that fits each piece.
- Dynamic pricing — tie a listing to the current spot price of gold, silver, or platinum so your asking price moves with the market.
- Auto-renew listings so a piece that doesn't sell on day one keeps showing.
- Stripe receipts get sent to buyers automatically the moment the charge clears.
Human verification on every listing
Every item that goes up for sale is reviewed by a real person on our team. Sellers handwrite a unique code, photograph it next to the piece, and a human approves the listing before it goes live. Buyers see proof, not just stock photos.
Sales tax handled for you
Sales tax is now calculated automatically using Stripe Tax and shown to buyers up front on every offer, bid, and Buy Now checkout. We recalculate at capture time so rate changes can't burn anyone, and the tax breakdown appears in every transaction view. One less thing to think about.
Shipping that tracks itself
When you sell something, you can now:
- Pick the carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) and paste a tracking number.
- Watch real-time shipping status update automatically through EasyPost.
- Send the buyer automatic email updates at every milestone — shipped, in transit, out for delivery, delivered.
No copy-pasting tracking links into emails. No "did it arrive?" check-ins.
Direct messaging between buyers and sellers
Got a question about a piece before bidding? Need to ask the seller for an extra photo? You can now message any user directly from their listing or profile. Inbox view, color-coded conversations, and the ability to block users if you ever need to keep someone out.
Ratings & feedback
After every transaction, buyers and sellers can rate each other with quarter-star granularity. Your received feedback lives at My Ratings in the profile menu, and it shows up on your public profile so trusted sellers stand out.
A dedicated home for sold items
Sold items used to clutter your active collection. Now they live on their own page at Collection » Sold, with the same rich detail view, share links, and history — just kept out of your active stats and category breakdowns.
Cleaner sales overview
The Sales tab now shows every sale with the item photo, name, brand, category, buyer username, payment method, sales tax, and shipping status — all in one row. You can see exactly where every sale stands at a glance.
Public profiles, with optional company name
If you sell as a small business or a dealer, you can now represent yourself by company name on your public profile and listings instead of your personal name. Your private account stays private; only what you choose to publish is shared.
A whole Resources hub
We built out a full Resources section with everything we’ve been quietly working on:
- Who We Help — tailored pages for jewelry enthusiasts, watch collectors, coin collectors, handbag fans, gemstone collectors, estate inheritors, dealers, and more.
- Free calculators and tools — a scrap gold calculator, sterling silver melt value, a ring resizing cost estimator, and a fun "what’s my collection worth?" quiz. No sign-up required.
- Guides — how to inventory jewelry for insurance, the documents you need to sell a Rolex, photographing pieces for resale, telling sterling from plated.
- Comparisons — how BigStash stacks up against Sortly, Encircle, spreadsheets, and the other home-inventory apps out there in 2026.
Better market price charts
Our Charts page now covers gold, silver, platinum, and copper across ten currencies, with timeframes from one week to five years. Every metal/currency/timeframe combination has its own permanent URL, so you can bookmark or share a specific view (for example, gold in USD over the last year).
A friendlier interface
A lot of smaller polish, all in the last few weeks:
- Smooth slideshow transitions on item photos, both in the marketplace and your private collection.
- A redesigned Resources mega-menu in the navigation so you can jump straight to any persona, feature, guide, calculator, or chart.
- An Active Listings tab so you can see what’s live and pending in one place.
- An Activity page that surfaces everything happening on your account.
- Improved toggle visibility, clearer navigation highlights, and consistent collection totals across Dashboard, Collection, and Reports.
Under the hood
Behind the scenes, we hardened the marketplace against duplicate charges with atomic sale claims, fixed several authentication and request-integrity issues from our latest security scan, made every public page properly indexable by search engines, and expanded our sitemap to over a hundred SEO-optimized URLs so more collectors can find us.
What’s next
We’re heads-down on a few more things you’ve been asking for: bulk import, smarter AI prefill, better buyer notifications, and a few surprises. If there’s something you wish BigStash did, tell us — support is right here, and so is the team.
Thanks for being part of this. Whether you joined to catalog a single ring or to run a serious dealer operation, you’re the reason any of this gets built. Here’s to the next month.
